Tétouan (Tetuán) is a city in Northern Morocco with a population of approx. 300,000 as founded in the 3rd century. It is located 60km east of Tangiers and 40km south of the Straits of Gibraltar. Tetuan is situated in the middle of a belt of orchards that contain orange, almond, pomegranate and cypress trees. The Rif Mountains are nearby, as the city is located in the Martil Valley.

The town appears to be cleaner that most Moroccan towns. There are nice wide streets with some big old houses which belong to aristocratic Moors
